Home2Suites by Hilton, known for its home-like accommodations and modern amenities for both short and extended stays, opened for business Wednesday in Opelika.
Located on Capps Way off of Interstate 85's exit 58 in Opelika, the new property features 81 suites with fully-equipped kitchens, complimentary Internet, and an outdoor saline pool with a fire pit and grilling area. It also has trademark Home2Suites amenities such as Spin2 Cycle, a combined laundry and fitness area, Home2 Market for grab-and-go items and the Inspired Table, a complimentary breakfast that includes more than 400 potential combinations, according to Dianne Lowe, sales director for the hotel.
"We're right between the twin cities of Opelika and Auburn." Lowe said. "We're fortunate to have two cities with good economic development programs."
Pam Powers-Smith, president of the Opelika Chamber of Commerce, said the hotel is a great addition to the Auburn Opelika area.
"It's such a nice complement to what is already there and what will be built in the very near future," Powers-Smith said. "And Home2Suites is going to fill a much needed gap in extended stay for this area. But I would encourage people that only need one night to stay there also, because the property is gorgeous."
The hotel, which broke ground in June 2016, is locally owned an operated by Tom Hunt and Chris Chavis of PHD Hotels, Inc. an Auburn-based hotel management and development company. The company's name stands for practicing hospitality daily (PHD), which comes from Romans 12:13.
"People like to feel welcome," Lowe said. "We try to practice hospitality daily in what we do."
A grand opening and ribbon cutting will be held at a later date.
